ThunderboltReset

ThunderboltReset is a Lilu plugin that provides Thunderbolt hot-plug reset support, allowing Thunderbolt devices to be properly recognized when connected after boot.

Overview

On Hackintosh systems, Thunderbolt devices connected after boot (hot-plugged) may not be properly recognized due to incomplete Thunderbolt controller initialization. ThunderboltReset patches the Thunderbolt subsystem to properly handle hot-plug events, ensuring that Thunderbolt devices are detected and configured correctly when connected after the system has already booted.

Features

  • Hot-Plug Support: Enables proper Thunderbolt device detection when connected after boot
  • Controller Reset: Handles Thunderbolt controller reset on hot-plug events
  • Device Recognition: Ensures Thunderbolt devices are properly recognized and configured
  • Lilu Integration: Built on the Lilu patching framework

Installation

  1. Install Lilu first
  2. Download the latest release from GitHub
  3. Copy ThunderboltReset.kext to EFI/OC/Kexts/
  4. Add the kext to your config.plist under Kernel > Add
  5. Ensure Lilu is loaded before ThunderboltReset
  6. Reboot your system
