Innie

Innie is a Lilu plugin that makes externally-connected drives appear as internal to macOS, improving iCloud and iMessage compatibility on Hackintosh systems.

Overview

Apple’s iCloud and iMessage services check whether the boot drive is an internal device as part of their validation. On Hackintosh systems where the boot drive is connected via an external interface (e.g., USB SATA adapter), these services may fail or behave unexpectedly. Innie patches the disk arbitration system to make externally-connected drives appear as internal, satisfying Apple’s service validation requirements.

Installation

1. Install Lilu first
2. Download the latest release from GitHub
3. Copy Innie.kext to EFI/OC/Kexts/
4. Add the kext to your config.plist under Kernel > Add
5. Ensure Lilu is loaded before Innie
6. Reboot your system
