This is a utility tool, NOT a kext. It does not need to be installed in your EFI.
OpenCore Configurator is a macOS native GUI application for editing OpenCore config.plist files. It provides a visual interface for all OpenCore settings with built-in validation and documentation.

OpenCoreโs config.plist has hundreds of settings across many sections. OpenCore Configurator provides a structured GUI that organizes these settings into tabs and forms, making it easier to configure your Hackintosh without manually editing the plist.

Installation
- Download from the project website
- Open the downloaded DMG file
- Drag OpenCore Configurator to your Applications folder
- On first launch, you may need to right-click and select Open to bypass Gatekeeper

Usage
- Launch OpenCore Configurator
- Open your
config.plist(File > Open) - Navigate the tabs to configure each section:
- ACPI: Add SSDTs and ACPI patches
- Booter: Configure booter settings
- DeviceProperties: Set device properties and PCI paths
- Kernel: Add kexts, set Quirks
- Misc: Debug, Security, and Tools settings
- NVRAM: Set NVRAM variables and boot arguments
- PlatformInfo: Set SMBIOS data and serials
- UEFI: Configure UEFI drivers and reserved memory
- Save your
config.plist

ProperTree is a general plist editor with OC Snapshot. Itโs open-source, cross-platform, and doesnโt modify your plist in unexpected ways. OpenCore Configurator is macOS-only and provides a more guided experience with validation and documentation. Both are valid choices โ use whichever you prefer.
Is OpenCore Configurator safe?
OpenCore Configurator is widely used in the Hackintosh community. However, itโs closed-source. Some users prefer ProperTree because itโs open-source and doesnโt make unexpected changes to the plist. Always keep backups of your config.plist.
